Hello,

When we move to the next version of GroupSwim on 11/15/07 at 4am PST, you will be able to turn your GroupSwim community into a public site.  In order to do this, please follow the steps below:

1. Click on "Site settings" on the main page

2. Click on "Privacy and access permissions"

3. Click on "Public" to change the site to an open site.  You can click on "View details" to see the specific settings.  If you want to change any of the defaults, you can select the "Custom" option and change whatever settings you like.

Great post, Jason.

I also wanted to point out that there is a very similar flow for changing the privacy settings for individual groups within your site. Simply...

  1. Navigate to the group in question.
  2. Click on "Group settings." (Note that Site Owners and Site Managers can change the settings for any group on the site)
  3. Open "Privacy and access permissions"
  4. Change your group's settings on that page. You can change: who can read discussions, who can post, who can reply, who can invite people to the group, and more.
That's all. Just though it might be a useful addition to Jason's tutorial
