Is there a way of seeing other groups available to join, such as a Mac related group, etc.?

We have not finished group discovery just yet. It is coming. I'm sure you have seen this, but in your group site you can always browse sub groups by clicking on "all subgroups" in the Subgroups drop down.

If you belong to Yahoo! or Google groups that you would like to include with in your group site you can use the add Yahoo! groups or Google groups feature. You can find this in the settings area for your group site. Some suggested Yahoo! and Google Mac groups are:

Yahoo!: http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/macbook/
Google: http://groups.google.com/group/comp.sys.mac.system
