A holiday gift from GroupSwim. New features just released!

Everyone here at GroupSwim has been burning the midnight oil to deliver something special for the holidays.  What’s new?  The much-requested (and killer) automatic tagging and “email-in” capabilities, plus a bunch of other cool upgrades. We can’t wait to hear everyone’s feedback.   Enjoy!

The Highlights:

• Automatic tagging of all new discussions and replies – check out the tags as you type!
• Email integration.  You can post and reply to your community via email - plus we automatically tag it for you!
• Upgraded watchlist.  It just got a whole lot better.  Just check it out.
• New notification options:  For managers only, have your discussions and replies post in the community and delivered via email at the same time.
• Directly add members:  You can now add users to your groups directly vs. inviting.
• Insert and edit HTML:   You can add and edit HTML directly in the post and reply form using the new HTML toolbar option.

Note on email-in.  This feature is off by default.  If you want to use email-in, please contact us at info@groupswim.com and we will get you setup.

GroupSwim Features

• Automatic tagging (auto tagging):  Yes, it’s here.   When you create a new discussion or reply, we automatically suggest tags.  You can add additional tags or just use our suggested tags.  Our engine is self-learning; it just keeps getting better the more it’s used.   You don’t need to do anything special, we automatically suggest tags as you type your discussion or reply.  It’s that easy.

• Email-integration (email-in):  We now support creating and replying to discussions via email.    Every GroupSwim site/group is assigned a unique email address.  Just use that email address to start or forward a discussion directly to your community.  As an added bonus, anything you submit via email will be automatically tagged to make it easy to find.
  • How to use:  First, tell us you want to use email-in (It’s off by default).  Just email us at:  info@groupswim.com and we will provision it for your site.
  • See this post, here , in tips and tricks on how to configure.  You have a couple options like making it a manager only option.
  • Finally, we currently do not support HTML emails (they get converted to text) and attachments (they are removed).   We will add support for both shortly.

• Watchlist upgrade:  The Watchlist now follows the same format as the home page.   It tracks activity by the date and event (new post, new reply, added tag).   This format makes it a snap to stay abreast with the community content you care most about.

• New notification options:  Ever post a new discussion or reply and want to make sure everyone is notified?   Now you can!  We added new options on the post and reply form that lets you:
  • Notify everyone in the group (post and reply)
  • Notify everyone in the discussion (reply)
  •  Notify just the original author (reply)

• Directly add new members to your group:  We just made it a lot faster to add new members to your group.   If the user is already a member of the site you can now add them directly to your group instead of using the invite process.  The user is notified that they have been added to a group and can opt-out if they do not want to participate.   Of course, you can still use the current invite process as well.
